ICT / Tablet Specialist for Schools
- Specialist ICT education adviser position to contribute to long term education development in Kiribati
- Short term, periodic inputs (Up to 125 input days in 2016 and also in 2017)

The Program
On behalf of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Coffey is managing the delivery of a package of support and technical assistance (Kiribati Education Facility), to the Kiribati Ministry of Education (MoE) as part of the Kiribati Education Improvement Program (KEIP). We work with participating donors, including DFAT, UNICEF and UNESCO, to support the MoE in implementing a comprehensive reform program focused on ensuring all children in Kiribati have access to quality schooling.
KEIP Phase III (2016-2019) is planned to commence in April 2016 and will focus on the consolidation of the reforms already undertaken in 2010-15 and will extend the curriculum and teaching and learning reforms into the Junior Secondary system.
The Position
The ICT / Tablet Specialist for Schools will assist DFAT and the Kiribati Ministry of Education (MoE) to identify cost effective and educationally appropriate ICT approaches and equipment to strengthen in-classroom teaching across all primary and junior secondary schools in Kiribati. The Specialist will also identify options for ICT support in classrooms which are both connected and not connected to the internet. This will include trialling the use of pre-loaded Tablets as a resource for teachers and students.
The Person
Are you an ICT professional with expertise in the school education sector and a passion for improving ICT in schools and in developing country contexts?
The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Computing or Educational Media and will demonstrate considerable experience using ICT as an educator and providing advice in relation to appropriate technologies and issues with the use of ICT and tablet learning. Previous experience also in the design of instructional and learning material for computer/tablet assisted learning and knowledge of school level curriculum and learning materials is required for success. A strong ability to coach and mentor colleagues from different social and cultural backgrounds as well as previous experience working in the Pacific is highly desirable.
