The Program
Australia’s Support to Fiji’s Health Sector is funded by the Australian Government and is managed by Coffey through the Fiji Program Support Facility. It is a five-year program which started in 2017, valued at approximately AUD4 million per year. It focuses on two main areas; helping improve health services (e.g. maternal services) and strengthening health systems (e.g. planning, finance, workforce and information).
The Position
The Health Systems Support Program Manager role is to lead and coordinate, the second main area of health system strengthening. This includes support in the policy, planning, financial, workforce, management, and information areas to help the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) meet its health system strengthening goals and objectives.
The Program Manager will work closely and collaboratively with the MHMS to plan and organise projects, initiatives and technical support in these key areas. The role works closely with the Team Leader Health, in developing the Health Program’s Annual Work plans, monitoring and evaluating the progress and impacts of those activities and preparing key reports. The incumbent will also support a focus on gender equity and social inclusion across all activities.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have experience in generic program management as well as international health development, including health system improvements. They will have strong communication and interpersonal skills liaising with ministries and senior counterparts.
They will be degree qualified in a health or management related field and demonstrate experience in collaboratively designing, planning and implementing a range of projects and initiatives to support the strengthening of an organisation’s systems, processes, people and technology, preferably in health.
Candidates will need to demonstrate excellent skills and success working in diverse teams and mentoring professional colleagues and a commitment to helping implement practical gender equality and social inclusion approaches. Previous work experience in Fiji or the Pacific is desirable.
