The Program

The PNG-Australia Secondary School Partnership is a new initiative that will connect Australia and Papua New Guinea’s students, teachers and principals to better prepare our future generations. A group of select Australian and PNG secondary schools will work together to strengthen their priority areas of secondary education, such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), English and youth leadership.

Program delivery will involve a coherent, targeted and supported suite of formal and informal learning experiences for school leaders, teachers, students and relevant education authorities. They will include transformative exchange and learning experiences in Australia and PNG, school project collaboration, professional short courses, targeted scholarships and student leadership initiatives.

The initiative will be delivered via the Australia Awards PNG Facility which is managed by Coffey, a Tetra Tech company, on behalf of the Australian Government.

The Position

The Coordinator (Secondary Education Partnerships) is responsible for contributing to the coordination, implementation, and reporting of the delivery of secondary education partnership activities between schools in Australia and PNG and related initiatives. These activities will support the capacity development of secondary schools and foster youth leadership in PNG and enhance the relationship between Australia and PNG.

The Person

The Coordinator (Secondary Education Partnerships) will possess a minimum of a diploma qualification in administration, project management, and/or human resources or an equivalent combination of relevant experience or training. The ideal candidate will have professional administration experience in project coordination in an international development context.

To be successful in this role, you will have you will have excellent planning and organisational skills including the ability to manage competing tasks in a timely manner. You will have effective interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written in addition to a collaborative, customer focused and team player approach. Knowledge of the secondary education sector in Papua New Guinea and Australia is an advantage.
