Senior Coordinator, PNG-Australia Secondary School Partnerships - Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

The Program

The PNG-Australia Secondary School Partnership is a new initiative that will connect Australia and Papua New Guinea’s students, teachers and principals to better prepare our future generations. A group of select Australian and PNG secondary schools will work together to strengthen their priority areas of secondary education, such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), English and youth leadership.

Program delivery will involve a coherent, targeted and supported suite of formal and informal learning experiences for school leaders, teachers, students and relevant education authorities. They will include transformative exchange and learning experiences in Australia and PNG, school project collaboration, professional short courses, targeted scholarships and student leadership initiatives.

The initiative will be delivered via the Australia Awards PNG which is managed by Tetra Tech Coffey, on behalf of the Australian Government.

The Position

The Senior Coordinator is responsible for leading the coordination, implementation, and reporting of the delivery of secondary education partnership activities between schools in Australia and PNG and related initiatives. These activities will support the capacity development of secondary schools and foster youth leadership in PNG and enhance the relationship between Australia and PNG.

The Person

  • Relevant university degree qualifications in administration, project management, education or an equivalent combination of experience or training;
  • Senior professional experience in project coordination in an international development context, including events management;
  • Knowledge of the Government of Papua New Guinea, its structure and reform agenda and policies and systems relating to education;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills for building and maintaining relationships, delivering messages, and identifying and managing issues;
  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision; and
  • Experience working independently and within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.

This position is locally engaged and is reserved for National Citizens of Papua New Guinea.
