The Program
The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs in sectors including health, education, Australia Awards and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards and Education programs in Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability inclusion, climate change, emergency preparedness and response and civil society engagement, across sectoral programs. The Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.
The Position
The Counselling System Standards Development Consultant (Consultant) will be responsible for consulting with a range of medical stakeholders and to ensure that the standards contribute to improving patient outcomes. This will enable MHMS to ensure consistency across services and report effectively on results.
As such, the Consultant will be responsible for: delivering referral pathways, minimum standards, code of ethics, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning framework and other outputs; delivering regular briefings and reports; streamlining Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) and Child Protection as well as ensuring compliance of all written work with MHMS and Fiji Government policies and laws. Working relationships will include stakeholders from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) and the Facility.
The Person
The ideal candidate will bring experience working within Fiji Government structures, policy and procedures; as well as developing and documenting clinical standards, training materials and delivering training to adults. An extensive knowledge of counselling GEDSI; protective and risk factors; psychosocial support needs; gender-based violence; child protection and alcohol and other drugs.
They must have excellent communication, time management and communications skills and be willing to travel to remote areas and sleep in modest accommodation.
Masters level qualification in Psychology is essential as well as prior experience in counselling in Fiji.
