Secondary Education Partnerships Manager

  • Senior Manager role with new PNG-Australia Secondary School Partnerships program
  • One year, full-time, with possibility of extension

The Program

The PNG-Australia Secondary School Partnership is a new initiative that will connect Australia and Papua New Guinea’s students, teachers and principals to better prepare our future generations. A group of select Australian and PNG secondary schools will work together to strengthen their priority areas of secondary education, such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), English and youth leadership.

Program delivery will involve a coherent, targeted and supported suite of formal and informal learning experiences for school leaders, teachers, students and relevant education authorities. They will include transformative exchange and learning experiences in Australia and PNG, school project collaboration, professional short courses, targeted scholarships and student leadership initiatives.

The initiative will be delivered via the Australia Awards PNG Facility which is managed by Coffey, a Tetra Tech company, on behalf of the Australian Government.

The Position

The Secondary Education Partnerships Manager leads and manages the delivery of Secondary Education Partnerships activities and reports to the Facility Director.

This involves leading and managing the delivery of secondary education partnership activities between schools in Australia and PNG and related initiatives. These activities will support the capacity development of secondary schools and foster youth leadership in PNG and enhance the relationship between Australia and PNG.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree(s) in education, human resource development, international development or related field. We are seeking a senior level specialist with substantial experience in the planning and management of international projects or teams involving education or training or human resource development. You will have highly developed leadership and project management skills including work planning and implementation, team/personnel management, and financial and procurement management.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated successful experience in working with colleagues, government agencies, service providers and multiple stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment. You will have excellent understanding of the Papua New Guinean and Australian education sector in addition to knowledge of best practice in secondary education and leadership development. The successful applicant will have previous experience with Australian Government-funded projects and knowledge of relevant policies, standards, and protocols. Excellent analytical, research, writing and communication skills in English language is required. Ability and enthusiasm to lead change and foster a ‘can-do’ team culture and the ability to assess and work sensitively in a cross cultural multi-stakeholder context is also required.
