Position: PART TIME RECEPTIONIST
Asylum Access is an innovative non-profit founded to make human rights a reality for refugees. We help refugees assert their fundamental rights using four integrated tools: individualized legal counsel and/or representation, community legal empowerment, policy advocacy and strategic litigation. We provide direct legal assistance reaching over 10,000 refugees per year.
Asylum Access Thailand (AAT) provides direct information and advice to urban asylum seekers and refugees in Bangkok taking part in the Refugee Status Determination (RSD) process before the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
General responsibilities
The Receptionist will assist the Legal Services and Community Legal Empowerment teams in
communication with clients as well as in dealing with clients as they attend AAT for
meetings, legal clinics, trainings or approach the office for support. The successful candidate
will also be expected to provide accurate information to prospective clients regarding the
services which AAT offers, and in cases where we cannot assist, advising of potential
alternative support services. This role involves acting as the first point of contact for clients
arriving at AAT and as such carries a high degree of responsibility.
Job Responsibilities
● Initial screening for needs and vulnerabilities of clients;
● Intake and referral of clients to appropriate staff for assistance;
● Update screening sheet and database as necessary;
● Photocopy and scan client’s documents;
● Answer the telephone and assist clients with basic enquiries;
● Check Client’s interview date and invite them to the training sessions accordingly;
● Conduct all administrative work in relation to trainings;
● Assist as necessary at client training sessions;
● Leading and Coordinating the reception team for Legal Clinics every Tuesday.
Qualifications and Requirements:
● Good knowledge of the situation of refugees and asylum seekers in Bangkok.
● An understanding of UNHCR processes as they relate to RSD and Resettlement.
● Experience of working in a refugee focused or support role is an asset.
● Good Computer skills especially in Microsoft Office and Google Drive software packages.
● Excellent communication skills in English, knowledge of the major refugee languages prevalent in Bangkok would be an advantage.
● Thai language skill are an asset.
● Experience of working in a customer or client focused role.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills and the ability to work
with different groups and nationalities
● Ability to multi-task and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines, to identify priority activities and assignments and adjust priorities as required.

Reporting
This position reports directly to the AAT Refugee Case Manager for all work responsibilities
and professional development, also to liaise with other members of AAT’s leadership team
as needed.
A salary of 8,000 Baht per month is offered for 3 days work per week. Position based in Bangkok, Thailand.
