**Position Description
Asylum Access is looking to hire a consultant to assist our Global Leadership Team in the design, implementation, facilitation and documentation of a bottom-up strategic planning process for each of our national operations. These plans will be used to inform the update to our organization-wide strategic plan, to be amended in July of 2019.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with AA staff to build a clear process for strategic planning. This will include the development of tools, templates, and guides which will result in the production of (1) a change statement, (2) context analysis, (3) pathways to change, and ultimately (4) a theory of change for each national operation.
Develop a detailed facilitator’s guide to support each Asylum Access leader in managing the strategic planning process.
Co-facilitate, along with Asylum Access leaders, a series of workshops for each program that will support the development of their strategic plan.
Record and document the outcomes of each process, including the final Theories of Change.
Build a process for reviewing and updating the strategic plan given changes in environment in future years.
Draft a report on the success and lessons learned from the strategic planning process for submission to the leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
University degree in law, human rights or another university degree in a relevant discipline;
2 to 5 years of experience in strategic planning and training or facilitation;
Experience of drafting programmatic documents, training materials or Standard Operating Procedures;
Experience leading or managing in the development field, especially in human rights.
Experience in refugee rights is an advantage;
Experience in training and mentoring staff, particularly from a wide variety of cultures;
Fluent in English & Spanish with a high level of written skill in both languages;
A positive, proactive and outgoing attitude with the ability to work well in a diverse and multicultural environment.
Duration and Location
The position is part- to full-time, for a period of 6 months starting January 5, 2019 (with possibility of extension). Location is negotiable; preference for candidate being based in Mexico City, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok. Travel is required to conduct or support planning workshops.
Compensation
Compensation will be negotiable depending on experience, falling within the range of USD 12,500 to USD 25,000 depending upon time commitment.**
