The Program
The Australian Indonesia Commercial Cattle Breeding Program (IACCB), which has been operating since February 2016, aims to expand the commercial-scale beef cattle breeding industry in Indonesia. The program is partnering with eight project partners in six Indonesian provinces, to test three cattle breeding models (1) integrated oil palm and cattle production; (2) semi-intensive grazing, and (3) smallholder cut and carry. Project Partners include small, medium and large commercial interests in the palm oil and small holder cooperative and semi-intensive cattle breeding sectors. At year three of IACCB all sub-projects are well established and enjoy very strong working relationships between the IACCB technical team and partner staff. IACCB requires a Program Director to maintain this solid performance and to promote the program and its commercial results to potential investors. For more information on IACCB see http://iaccbp.org/
The Position
The Program Director will be responsible for strategic and operational management of the program. He/she will report to a Contractor’s Representative and will be technically supported by an experienced Cattle Breeding Technical Adviser. More specifically, the Program Director will maintain effective working relationships with DFAT and Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture staff, project partners and other key IACCB stakeholders, lead the strategic and operational management of the program, and oversee program planning, reporting, management systems and monitoring and evaluation (M&E). He / she will also represent the program at senior stakeholder meetings and also communicate program results at industry events and to potential investors.
The Person
Along with your strong leadership, negotiation and facilitation skills, you will demonstrate experience leading international agricultural development programs.
Coupled with strong commercial acumen and experience, and effective public diplomacy skills and experience, you will display exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a capacity to effectively lead operational staff and technical teams to deliver results.
Existing relevant relationship within the public and private sector in Indonesia, a working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia, and professional experience in cattle breeding development or management are highly desirable
