The Program

The Laos Australia Institute is managed by Coffey, a Tetra Tech company, on behalf of the Australian Government. The Laos Australia Institute manages Australia’s main investments in Human Resource Development (HRD) in Laos, including the Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS) and Laos Australia National Scholarships (LANS). The program also supports HRD policies, planning and implementation for the Government of Laos (GOL); in particular through work with two key counterpart organisations, the Ministry of Education and Sports and Ministry of Home Affairs. The program is committed to ensure equity for women, people living with disability and those living in the Provinces (especially those in designated disadvantaged districts) in all of its activities.

The Position

Reserved for Laos Citizens

The Projects Coordinator (Alumni) will work primarily under the instruction of the Scholarship Manager, and is responsible for designing, managing and coordinating a range of Alumni activities and events during April, May, June and July 2018. Some of these events include: Human Resources Forum, Ted Talk event, networking event with the Ambassador and senior alumni, picnic for alumni and their families and supporting the coordination of The Next Generation program.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Day to day management and coordination of Australia Awards, Laos Australia National Scholarships, Disability Inclusive Development Program, English language program/s and Alumni events/projects
  • Undertake design of projects and events in consultation with the LAI team, DFAT and alumni including preparation of concept notes, and project activity plans
  • Coordinate promotional materials and event logistics as required
  • Ensure DFAT and LAI policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities as required
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with key stakeholders including DFAT, LAI team and alumni
  • Implement and support strategies for inclusion of women, people with disabilities and those from the provinces

The Person

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in project and/or event management and coordination. To be successful in this role you will have effective communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience of applying policies, monitoring performance and ensuring quality of outcomes related to events and projects. You will also have extensive experience of managing/coordinating promotion and marketing activities and be fluent in both written and verbal Lao and English. The successful candidate will also demonstrate experience of gender and disability equity and familiarity with the Lao and Australian higher education systems is desirable. You will also have a strong work ethic with very high attention to detail and have the capacity to deliver work on time. We are looking for an Initiator who is self-directed and can work independently as well as part of a team.
