The Program
The Australian Government has established the Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) to implement its education, health and scholarship aid programs in Fiji and its scholarship and education program in Tuvalu. The Facility will also support the delivery of Australia’s emergency response efforts following natural disasters, and governance sector support when requested by the Fiji Government.
Support to Fiji’s health sector between the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MoHMS) is a key component of the Facility. The focus of the support is in health systems strengthening, in particular financial planning, policy development and services management as well as in public health, seeking to address non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and universal health coverage.
The company managing the Facility on behalf of the Australian Government, Coffey, is currently seeking applications for the position of Team Leader Health to lead this new phase of support to the health sector.
The Position
The Team Leader Health will provide senior management and leadership in implementing and coordinating all aspects of the support to the Health Sector from 2017-2021. The Team Leader will facilitate and support shared decision making by the MoHMS and DFAT on the strategic direction of the health program, ensuring alignment of objectives to the MoHMS strategic plan and will also provide strategic direction to the team of technical advisers for the program’s five objective areas. In addition, the Team Leader will oversee the administration and implementation of the program, managing relevant personnel and financial resources and ensuring contracted activities are implemented effectively. The Team Leader will ensure collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse range of stakeholders in the health sector as well as coordination with other portfolios.
The Person
The ideal candidate for this key position will have substantial leadership experience in planning, policy and program management of institutional strengthening initiatives in the social sector or preferably health sector, with experience working in the Pacific. We seek an outstanding candidate with excellent relationship management skills, demonstrated high level coordination across national government agencies and understanding of a complex health environment with relevant government agencies in the Pacific.
